AI Mistral Large 4 (Le Chonk) is now open weight
After a public preview in early October, Mistral AI has released the weights of Mistral Large 4, its flagship model: about 1 trillion total parameters, a Mixture-of-Experts design, and text plus image input. This release has been further improved, especially for coding and defensive cybersecurity, and offers three reasoning levels (low, medium, high by default) to balance cost and quality. It is available in Mistral Studio, through the Mistral API, OpenRouter, Microsoft Foundry and NVIDIA endpoints, and as a download on Hugging Face. It ships under the Mistral Ecosystem Open-Weight license (an MIT derivative): commercial use is allowed, except that model-as-a-service offerings need a separate licence. API pricing is $0.70 per million input tokens and $2.10 per million output tokens.
